Sure they got their happy ever after in the end but they were just really toxic for each other and I’m sorry to say this book wasn’t for me. This was Vicious and Emilia’s story and their denial to accept their feelings dragged other people in their mess and ruined not just their lives but the lives of those people as well. ![]() How can a few good actions wipe away all the bad? I just couldn’t accept that. Plus, I hated how no matter how badly Vicious treated her, she still fell for him. I get it that Vicious put her in a tight spot but at times, she was so self-absorbed she missed things happening around her that were so obvious it was super annoying. Fine, Vicious was loaded but the way he treated Emilia was sick. I get it that he lived through a horrible situation but the horrors that we suffer through should not give us the license to treat people like crap and to do as we please. There are no peelings of bells for dying soldiers their deaths are marked by rat-a-tat of guns that serve as prayers for the dead. But when soldiers die in war, none of these are seen. Wilfred Owen was born on 18th March 1893, in Oswestry, United Kingdom. Deaths are usually associated with coffins decorated with flowers, church services, choir and mourners. The Anthem for Doomed Youth is a poem written by Wilfred Owen on September 1917. This bitterness has found its way into this poem. In the front, he would have seen friends and buddies being cut down leaving the survivors hardly any time or opportunity to mourn. While in the hospital, being treated for shell shock, Owen would have droves of injured soldiers. Owen tries to find what can be compared to these rituals and comes up with the boom of guns, tears in the eyes of sons and friends and the pallor of wives and daughters while they mourn for the death of the young men. At the front, there are no church services, no peeling of bells, no flowers on coffins. He was a buddy of Wilfred Owens and he helped the young poet pen 'Anthem for Doomed Youth.'
